Billings Vineyard Church Sunday Sermons

Our Sunday sermon messages at Billings Vineyard Church are given in hopes that the listener will know the Bible more than they did before. In the Vineyard, we see Jesus’ teaching on the kingdom of God as the overarching and integrating theme of the Scriptures. We root our theology in these teachings on the kingdom of God, embracing an ‘inaugurated eschatology’ – where God’s beautiful future is breaking into our present experience.

In this powerful Palm Sunday message by Adam Greenwell, we're challenged to examine the depth of our relationship with Christ. Are we seeking a God who simply meets our needs, or are we willing to surrender fully to His will and glory? The sermon unpacks how laziness in our walk with God diminishes true relationship, reducing our faith to empty religion. Reflecting Luke 9, we're reminded that Jesus cannot be Savior if He is also not Lord. Partial surrender is not salvation.

Today, Adam speaks about the difference between simply receiving God’s blessings and truly engaging with His grace. Jesus ' actions tended to offend people because to them He didn't move in the right time, right way, or right place, and it was usually toward the “wrong” people. His forgiveness wasn’t about the sin—it was about the heart of the forgiver. Gratitude isn’t automatic. It’s a choice that draws us closer to God and reveals our heart’s response to His grace. Healing wasn’t just a miracle; it was an invitation to a relationship. Scripture references: Luke 17:11–19, Ephesians 3:14–21, 1 Timothy 1:14–16

Adam Greenwell unpacks Luke 13: 10-17, where Jesus heals a woman bound by infirmity for 18 years. Through this story, Jesus reveals what His church should look like--a place of healing, grace, and transformation. Life can get messy, weighing us down, but Jesus shows us how to navigate these struggles with compassion and truth. Adam emphasizes that grace is transformative in relationships, yet we often withhold it from ourselves and others. Ultimately, grace and truth are not opposites but work together to bring freedom and renewal.

From the very beginning, God created light as a reflection of His presence, and believers are called to shine that light. We are fragile vessels, but Christ protects us, allowing His light to shine even through brokenness. Darkness exists not because God is absent but because people and systems choose it. Our mission is to be the light, standing against evil and bringing hope.
Key Scripture: Luke 19:10, Luke 11:33-36, Genesis 1:2, Isaiah 60:1-5, Luke 2:252-32, John 8:12, John 1:1-5, 2 Corinthians 4:5-10

This week in the Luke series, Adam dives into Luke 10 and the story of the Good Samaritan. Adam points out that our behavior shouldn't just be about following rules--it should come from a transformed heart and a longing to have a relationship with Christ. In this story, we can unpack what it truly means to love our neighbor and define what "our neighbor" truly is. Jesus didn't just preach reconciliation--He lived it. Are we willing to do the same? True love isn't about self-justification or helping those who think like us. It's about serving and loving others, even the lost, as Jesus did.

This week, Adam explores the powerful message of knowing what being saved truly means. Some people don't even realize they're lost, while others know they are lost but don't understand just how deep their separation from God is. We often try to be a part of God's Story without fully grasping His story. When we realize how much we've been forgiven, it leads us to a deeper love and greater gratitude towards God.

This week, Casper, Wyoming's Vineyard Pastor Walt Hill blessed us with a sermon. He talks about how our disappointment in others leads to disappointment that they didn't meet our unexpressed expectations. The same goes with God. We expect Him to work in our lives a certain way and then are disappointed with Him when it isn't what we expected. However, John questioned Jesus and Jesus still stood up for John. He will do the same for us.

This week, Adam discusses how worthiness comes from allowing God to seek and save us. This is a backward way that no human king would choose, but this is what makes God different. God is not a king who demands proof of worthiness. He is a King who seeks the lost to reconcile them to God's glory. We grow trust in God by allowing Him to seek and save us.
