Billings Vineyard Church Sunday Sermons

Our Sunday sermon messages at Billings Vineyard Church are given in hopes that the listener will know the Bible more than they did before. In the Vineyard, we see Jesus’ teaching on the kingdom of God as the overarching and integrating theme of the Scriptures. We root our theology in these teachings on the kingdom of God, embracing an ‘inaugurated eschatology’ – where God’s beautiful future is breaking into our present experience.

This week at Billings Vineyard we celebrated 20 years of God’s faithfulness. Pastor Adam reflected on the journey of growth and pruning, reminding us that through it all, God has never left us. Looking forward, we are called to live beyond Sundays—embracing Jesus’ command to make disciples, His comfort and strength in every season, and His call to daily surrender and cross-bearing.

2 Corinthians 8:1–5, 9:6–15 Paul reframes giving—not as guilt or obligation, but as grace, joy, and worship. Using the example of the Macedonian church, which gave generously despite deep poverty and hardship, Paul shows that true generosity flows from a surrendered heart, not from abundance. Giving isn’t about paying God back or meeting His needs; it’s about transforming us. When we hold loosely to what we have, our generosity multiplies joy, thanksgiving, trust, and impact. But when we cling tightly, scarcity takes root, multiplying fear and anxiety. Generosity is an act of love that patterns our lives after Jesus and plants a harvest for God to use. 2 Corinthians 6:3–10 Life with Jesus isn’t defined by ease, but by faithfulness in the midst of tension and trial. In this message, we are reminded that God does His best work in us not when life is easy, but when we surrender our strength to Him in the hard times. Tension is not a sign of failure—it is often the clearest evidence of faithfulness. Pressure will always tempt us to compromise, but true devotion means guarding our hearts and embracing the distinct call of Christ. The real question becomes: How do we keep going when the weight feels like too much? The good news is this—God never intended for us to carry the pressure alone. He gives us His Spirit to strengthen us and His people to walk with us.

2 Corinthians 5:11–6:2, Mark 8:34–35 Why do we follow Jesus? Not out of pressure or performance, but because His love compels us. When the love of Christ fills our hearts, it transforms how we see the world and the people around us—not as threats, burdens, or projects, but as beloved children of God whom Jesus died for. Salvation isn’t the end—it’s the beginning. We are saved to be sent as ambassadors of Christ, representing His kingdom in a broken world. Our mission is not to argue or control, but to faithfully share the message of reconciliation and restoration from the King. As we allow His love to change our vision and shape our response, we become living witnesses of His heart for the world. Be compelled, not coerced—because what the world needs most is more love, and more Jesus.

(2 Corinthians 4:7–12) God often allows more than we can handle—not so we’ll push through alone, but so we’ll lean into Him and live in community. We are fragile jars of clay by design, holding God’s priceless treasure. Our cracks don’t disqualify us—they reveal His power shining through. Pain doesn’t cancel our calling; it deepens it. When we surrender, we discover true strength, allowing God to work with who we truly are, not who we pretend to be.

2 Corinthians 3:7–4:6 Even muddy puddles can reflect light—our lives don’t have to be perfect to reflect Jesus. Adam's message challenges us not to look back or live in old patterns but to fully embrace the new covenant. As we behold Jesus, we become more like Him. Bold ministry flows from that closeness—not from self-confidence, but from reflecting His light. You don’t have to create the light. Just stay close enough to reflect it.

This week, Gary and Carolyn Ostlund share a powerful testimony of the pain they've walked through and the deep faith that’s carried them. As part of our Strength in Surrender series, Pastor Adam Greenwell reminds us that true strength often begins in vulnerability—when we open up about our struggles and allow God to meet us there. Scripture calls us to speak boldly of what God has done (Psalm 107:1–2, Mark 5:18–20, 2 Corinthians 4:13–15), and this message is a heartfelt reminder that healing and connection come when we stop hiding and start sharing. In our weakness, Jesus meets us—and from that place, His strength flows.

In this message, Jacob Troyer reminds us that life in Christ is not captivity—it’s freedom. We are rescued, cleaned up, and welcomed to the table, yet we often choose the world’s scraps over God’s feast. Even when we fail, we remain in God's victory parade. We are conquered territory, and through that surrender, His strength flows. Like perfume bottles, we carry the fragrance of Christ—broken or not, His scent is still powerful. True freedom comes from being captivated by Him.

2 Corinthians 2:1–11 God isn’t distant—He’s present and committed to restoring what’s broken. In this message, Pastor Brad Hudson shows how forgiveness is essential to healing and unity. Grief and division come from the enemy, but peace comes when we forgive as Jesus did. Forgiveness isn’t about feelings—it’s about obedience, repentance, and protecting the body of Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:1–11 In a world full of brokenness, suffering is something we all face—but it’s not a result of our performance or worth. This week, we explore how God meets us in our pain, not to remove it instantly, but to redeem it. From Job’s story to Jesus’ ultimate gift, we’re reminded that comfort comes through surrender and community. Even in the rubble, God is at work. He doesn’t cause our pain—He turns it into purpose. Join us as we lean into the promise that God works all things together for good (Romans 8:28), and discover what it really means to carry one another’s burdens
